The social film Aakrosh was released in the year of 1980 under the banner of Krishna Movies. The movie was directed by Govind Nihalani and produced by Devi Dutt and Narayan Kenny. The top roles in the movie were played by Naseruddin Shah, Om Puri, Smita Patil and Nana Palsikar while the supporting roles were played by Achyut Potdar, Amrish Puri, Reema Lagoo, Mohan Agashe, Arvind Deshpande and Bhagyasri Kotnis. The music of the film was directed by Ajit Verma while the lyrics were given by Vasant Dev.

The movie Aakrosh was a social movie that revolved mostly around a man named Advocate Bhaskar Kulkarni ( Naseruddin Shah ) who after the long time of his struggle and hard work with his mentor and Public Prosecutor Dushane, was allotted a legal case of Bhiku Lahanya ( Om Puri ). The accused was charged with the case of forcefully killing his wife Nagi ( Smita Patil ). According to him, she disobeyed him and refused to have sex with other men.

Bhiku remained silent and his case was looked after by the famous lawyer Bhaskar who’s all hard work and efforts went in vain. Even when Bhaskar goes to talk to Bhiku’s father and sister, he is ignored. Bhiku was questioned a lot by the police and now even the social workers and he told them what all actually happened. Meanwhile Bhiku’s father also passes away. Bhiku also wanted to attend his funeral and was given the required permission.
