Bollywood family drama, Aansoo Aur Muskaan, directed by P. Madhavan and written by Inder Raj Anand was released in the year 1970. The movie starred Parikshat Sahni and Hema Malini in lead roles while Om Prakash, David Abraham, Birbal, Jagdeep, Anand, Prem Kumar and Suresh also played significant characters in the film. The melodious music of the movie was composed by the veteran music director Kalyanji-Anandji while the songs were beautifully crooned by Mahendra Kapoor, Mukesh, Lata Mangeshkar, Suman Kalyanpur etc.

Young and beautiful Radha ( Hema Malini ) belongs to a poor family. A guy named Mahesh ( Parikshat Sahni ) visits the hill station and meets with Radha. They both falls in love with each other and even establish physical relationship. Mahesh promises her that he will marry her and will also take her alongwith him after some time. Mahesh returns to Bombay. Radha decides to wait for him but Mahesh never returns. After some time, Radha gives birth to a child and names her Laxmi. Radha then decides to search for Mahesh on her own.

Radha somehow manage to find out mahesh but on meeting he refuse to recognize her. heartbroken Radha ends up killing herself. Laxmi left alone without anyone for her help. Laxmi befriends a beggar named Anwar ( Om Prakash ). Laxmi wins the lottery of Rs. 2.5 lakh rupees. Anwar is killed by someone for the lottery ticket and now Laxmi has the ticket. Mahesh founds her and tries to convince her that he is her father.
