Bollywood romantic musical movie, Aarti, directed by Phani Majumdar and written by Vishwamitter Adil was released in the year 1962. The movie starred Pradeep Kumar and Meena Kumari in lead roles while Ashok Kumar, Praveen Paul, C. S. Dubey, Ramesh Deo, Shashikala, Niranjan Sharma, Gajanan Jagirdar and Keshto Mukherjee also played importanbt characters in the film. The hit evergreen music of the movie was directed by the veteran music director Roshan while the songs were rendered by Mohammed Rafi, Lata mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle etc.

The movie starts with a beautiful women named Aarti Gupta ( Meena Kumari ), who is a doctor by profession. She is a kind hearted person who always tries to utilize her skills for the welfare of Patients. However, her fiancee, Dr. Prakash ( Ashok Kumar ) is just opposite of her in nature. Prakash believes that he should earn as much money as they can from their skills. Then enters a guy named Deepak ( Pradeep Kumar ) in Aarti’s life, who saves her from drowning. Soon they both falls in love with each other.

Aarti is firbid by her father to see Deepak again. But she refuse to follow him and instead get married with Deepak and moves in with his family, which comprises of his father and his brother, Niranjan ( Ramesh Deo ) and his wife, Jaswanti ( Shashikala ). Prakash gets enraged with this news and decides to take revenge from Aarti. He gets married to another women named Ramona but fails to forget about Aarti. Destiny strikes and Deepak meets with a severe accident and the only surgeon who can save him is Prakash?
