Raj Kapoor and Nanda starrer romantic flick, Aashiq, was released in the year 1961. The movie was directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee and written by Vishwamitra Adil. The other starcast of the movie includes Raj Mehra, Abhi Bhattacharya, Leela Chitnis, Padmini, Johnny Walker, Keshto Mukherjee and Mukri in significant characters. The hit evergreen music of the movie was directed by the hit veteran music director duo Shankar Jaikishen while the songs were rendered by Mukesh, Lata Mangeshkar etc.

The movie starts with a young and handsome guy ( Raj Kapoor ). He is living a poor lifestyle in the city. He come across a beautiful girl ( Nanda ) and falls in love with her. He tries to get friendly with her but she avoids him. Nanda belongs to a wealthy family and is the spoilt daughter of his rich father. After few initial misunderstanding, Nanda too get attracted towards Raj. She eventually falls in love with him when he saves her from some goons who were trying to molest her.

Raj and Nanda then decides to get married to each other but Nand’a parents refuse to accept him as their son-in-law. Nanda’s father then puts a condition on their marriage that if Raj really wants to married to Nanda then he will have to earn wealth in quick time. Raj agrees to this but soon realises that he has committed a mistake by accepting this condition. Now Raj has no other option than to take crime path for becoming rich soon.
