Bollywood movie, Aashiq Awara, directed by Umesh Mehra was released in the year 1993. The movie starred Saif Ali Khan and Mamta Kulkarni in lead roles while Pankaj Dheer, Kader Khan, Rakesh Bedi, Mohnish Behl, Archana Puran Singh and Saeed Jaffrey also played significant characters in the film. Former bollywood actres, Sharmila Tagore also played a brief apperance in the film. The melodiuos music of the film was given by famous music director duo Laxmikant Pyarelal while the songs weresung by Udit Narayan, Kumar Sanu, Alka Yagnik etc. The movie did well at the box office.

The movie starts with atxi driver named Diler Singh ( Naveen Nischal ) who get killed while fighting with some goons when they attacked on a wealthy man, Kedarnath ( Saeed Jaffrey ). Kedarnath decides to look after Diler’s widow and son, Vikram after his death. But a substitute is placed by Kedarnath’s enemy instead of Diler’s real wife. And his enemy also kills the real wife of Diler Singh in an accident living behind her son. Her son is adopted by a small time crook named jaggu ( Kader Khan ).

Years later, Jimmy alongwith Jaggu and his son, Gulu, accidently enters in Kedarnath’s home to perform stealing. Jimmy pretends to be and NRI Rakesh Rajpal who has arrived there to marry Kedarnath’s granddaughter, Jyoti ( Mamta Kulkarni ). Soon, Jimmy and Jyoti falls in love with each other. Jimmy decides to tell the truth about him to Jyoti and writes a letter to her. But this proved out to be a big mistake by Jimmy?
