Bollywood movie, Aashirwad, directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee and written by Anil Ghosh was released in the year 1968. The movie starred Ashok Kumar and Sanjeev Kumar in lead roles while Padma Kumari, Bipin Gupta, Sumita Sanyal, Veena, Harindranath Chattopadhyay, Abhi Bhattacharya, Brahm Bhardwaj and Baby Deepali also played important characters in the film. The superhit music of the film was given by music director Vasant Desai while the songs were excellently rendered by Lata Mangeshkar, Hemlata, Manna Dey, Asha Bhonsle and Ashok Kumar. The movie sisstill remembered for the excellent act of ‘Dada Muni’ Ashok Kumar.

Shivnath Choudhary ( Ashok Kumar ) is famous as Joggi Thakur among villagers. Joggi Thakur lives a wealthy lifestyle alongwith his wife, Leela ( Veena ) and sweet daughter, Neena ( Sumita Sanyal ). Joggi Thakur is a very kind hearted person and always ready to help poor people. This helping nature of Joggi Thakur makes his wife angry all time. Joggi steals money from his own home for helping a poor guy named Baiju ( Harindranath Chattopadhyay ). This makes Leela very angry at him and she forbids him from seeing Neena ever again. Joggi Thakur then moves to Bombay where he befriends a guy named Mahadev.

He starts entertaining young children at a park and makes this his source of earning. He develops a very soft corner for a girl named Neena. But after Neena’s sudden death, his heart get shattered. Joggi returns to his village where he finds that Baiju’s daughter is abducted by Leela’s munim, Ramdas. He kills Ramdas and is arrested by police. He is sentenced to prison for 14 long years. He starts passing his time there in the hope that one day he will meet with her daughter Neena. Will he ever be able to see Neena again?
