Yesteryear bollywood hit movie, Abhinetri, directed by Subodh Mukherjee was released on May 12, 1970. The movie starred Shashi Kapoor and Hema Malini in the lead roles while Nirupa Roy, Asit Sen, Mac Mohan, Bela Bose and Deb Mukherjee also played important roles in the film. The superhit music of the film was given by none other than veteran music director duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal while the songs were sung by Kishore Kumar, Mahendra Kapoor, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle etc. The movie did average busines at the box office and the pair of Shashi Kapoor and Hema Malini also recieved appreciation from the audience.

The movie starts with a handsome guy named Shekar ( Shashi Kapoor ), who is an Assitant Scientist by profession. He falls in love with an established and famous stage singer and dancer, Anjana ( Hema Malini ) at first sight. Shekar proposes Anjaan and she approves. Soon they both get married to each other with the blessings of Shekar’s mother ( Nirupa Roy ). After marraige, Anajan leaves her dancing and singing activities. But after there honeymoon, Anjana starts noticing that Shekar is giving more time to his work as compared to her.

Anjana also decides to starts her dancing and singing activities once again. She tells this to Shekar who denies this. Shekar’s negative behaviour results in an argument between them. They both decides to live seperately and Anajan leaves his home. When Shekar’s mother returns to home, both Shekar and Anjana decides to live together for her sake. They both tries to fool Shekar’s mother but how far they will go like this? What will happen when Shekar’s mother will learn about their bad relationship?
