Bollywood movie, Afsana Pyaar Ka, directed by M. Shahjehan was released on 18 April 1991. The movie starred Aamir Khan and Neelam in lead roles while Deepak Tijori, Rakesh Bedi and Amita Nangia also played significant characters in the film. The music of the film was given by famous music director Bappi Lahiri while the songs were sung by Udit narayan, Asha Bhonsle, Alka Yagnik and Amit Kumar. The movie did average business at the box office but the music of the film was highly appreciated by the people.

The movie starts with Mr. Mahendra Behl ( Kiran Kumar ) who leaves her wife and son to marry a rich girl. Soon his new wife dies and he decides to call back his old wife and son. His wife, Beena ( Beena Banerjee ) refuses to go back to him but lets him keep his son named Raj ( Aamir Khan ). Raj is told by his father that his mother is no more in this world. Raj grows up and fall in love with a beautiful girl named Nikita ( Neelam ), uknown to the fact that Nikita’s uncle, Anand Verma ( Saeed Jaffrey ), was a good friend of his mother.

Raj and Nikita plan to marry each other and inform their families about this. Meanwhile, Beena joins the college as the new principal but she is also not aware of the real identity of Raj. Nikita’s uncle finds out that Raj is the son of Mr. Behl and refuse to marry Nikita to him. Now the love birds have only one choice and that is to marry the one their families have selected for them. What will they do now?
