Shashi Kapoor and Simi Grewal starrer romantic movie, Ahsaas, was released on October 26, 1979. The movie was directed by Surindra Suri. The other starcast of the film includes Shammi Kapoor, Rakesh Bedi, Simpla Kapadia, Amjad Khan, Leela Mishra, Dina Pathak, Bindu, Yunus Parvez and Sunder in important characters. the melodious evergreen music of the movie was directed by the well known music director Bappi Lahiri while the songs were rendered by Kishore Kumar etc.

The movie starts with young and wealthy Raju ( Parvez ), who is in love with a girl named Anu ( Dina Pathak ) and wants to get married with her. But his father, Sudarshan Sahni ( Shammi Kapoor ), who is a rich businessman wants him to get married with his europe based friend’s daughter named Rita ( Simple Kapadia ). Situation gets even worse when Anu’s father, Pradeep Rai Chaudhaury ( Amjad Khan ) also refuse to accept the marraige offer of Raju for his daughter. Raju and Anu then decides to run away from there.

Raju and Anu manage to runa away from there and get married with each other. They both then relocates to a remote village. They then starts living a happy life there alongwith each other. But problem arises once again when their fathers reveals about their location and comes there to bring back them to their respective houses. What will happen now?Will the lovebirds be able to meet each other again or not?
