Bollywood romantic movie, Akarshan, directed by Tanvir Ahmed was released in the year 1988. The movie starred Akbar Khan and Sonu Walia in lead roles while Girish Karnad, Suparna Anand, Rohini Hattangadi, and Deepak Qazir also layed significant characters in the film. Bollywood actors, Parveen Babi, Raj Babbar and Smita Patil were also seen playing special appearance in the film. The music of the movie was directed by music director Ajit Singh while the songs were rendered by Kishore Kumar, Ajit Singh, Kavita Krishnamurthy etc.

The movie starst with an actress, Priya ( Sonu Walia ), who is enjoying golden phase of his acting career. She meets with an accident while shooting a scene for her film and at that time Akbar ( Akbar Khan ) comes to her rescue and saves her life. After this incident, Priya falls in love with Akbar. Priya tries to go close to Akbar and somehow succeeds in it. But her closeness with Akbar is not liked by her elder sister ( Rohini Hattangadi ). However, the two love birds negotiates every hurdle of their path and soon decides to get married with each other. And finally the day arrives when Akbar and Priya finally get married with each other.

After spending some quality time with each other, Akbar and Priya once again goes back to their work. But the problem arises when Akbar meets with an accident and gets paralyzed. Priya now starts giving more attnetion towarsd him and this makes him feel down. He starts behaving badly with Priya much to the delight of her elder sister. Priya also get disturb with this negative behaviour of Akbar. What will be the future of this reltionship between Priay and Akbar?
