Bollywood thriller movie, Aks, directed by Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra was released on 13 July 2001. the movie starred Amitabh Bachchan, Manoj Bajpai, Raveena Tandon and Nandita Das in lead roles while K.K. Raina and Vijay Raaz also played important characters in the film. The music of the film was given by Indranil Sharma and the songs were sung by Anupama, K.S. Chitra, Vasundhara Das, Hariharan, Kay Kay, Shubha Mudgal, Kavita Mundra and Sukhwinder Singh. The movie did a flop show at the box office window.

The movie starts with a cop, Manu Verma ( Amitabh Bachchan ), who is assigned a job to save the life of Indian Defence Minister ( Amol Palekar ) from Raghavan ( Manoj Bajpai ), a deadly killer. Raghavan is after the minister for a floppy which contains some information that could affect the destiny of the Indian nation. Manu fails to save minister’s life. He tries to find Raghavan and does find him. Raghavan is then sentenced to be hanged until death. Raghavan is hanged while quoting wilding from the Holy Bhagvad Geeta.

Raghavan is dead now and Manu has also returned to his job. He is enjoying a peaceful life with his wife and his young daughter. But then only comes a strange news that Justice Balwant Chaudhary is killed and the way he is murdered indicates that Raghavan is the killer. But how is this possible, as Raghavan is dead. Inspector Arjun Srivastava ( Abhimanyu Shekhar ) tries to find out the truth but when he learns about the truth he get highly shocked to it.
