Alag was a sci-fi movie released on June 16, 2006 under the banner of Subi Samuel Movies Pvt. Ltd. The movie was directed by Ashu Trikha and produced by Subi Samuel. The lead roles were played by Dia Mirza, Vinod Khanna, Akshay Kapoor and Jayant Kriplani while the supporting roles were played by Sharat Saxena and Yatin Karyekar. The music of the film was directed by Aadesh Shrivastav and the songs were sung by Kunal Ganjawala, Vasundhara Das, Gayatri Ganjawala, Kailash Kher and Shaan.

The movie Alag directed by Ashu Trikha is really different from the other movies, as indicated by its name. The movie casts Dia Mirza as the lead actress and this has been done the third time by the director after producing movies ‘Deewanapan’ and ‘Sheesha’. This is the second movie of actor Akshay Kapoor after ‘Popcorn Khao Mast Ho Jao’. The movie begins with a death of a middle aged man Hemant Rastogi who lived alone in a house. The cops were all clueless about his death and felt that there was something mysterious about him.

Police realizes that there is someone else also living in the house. He was an eighteen years old guy Tejas ( Akshay Kapoor ) who was isolated from the outside world. The police officials decided to send Tejas to an institute run by Purva ( Dia Mirza ) which deals with looking after the orphans and all those people who have just stepped in the world of crime. Tejas gradually realizes that the world was completely different from what he has read in the books. Meanwhile Purva also comes to know about some unknown qualities of Tejas. She realizes that he possess some special powers that a common man can not.
