Bollywood movie, Amar Shakti, directed by Harmesh Malhotra was released in the year 1978. The movie starred Shashi Kapoor, Shatrughan Sinha and Sulakshana Pandit in lead roles while Om Shivppuri, Manjula, Ranjeet, Jeevan, Alka, Rajan Haksar, Pradeep Kumar and Roopesh Kumar also played important roles in the film. The melodious music of the movie was directed by the well knwon music director Laxmikant-Pyarelal while the songs were rendered by Kishore Kumar, Mohammed Rafi, Asha Bhonsle, Sulakshana Pandit and Anuradha Paudwal.

The movie starts with Shamsher Singh ( Pradeep Kumar ) who kills the Maharaj of his kingdom with the help of Diwan Nahar Singh ( Jeevan ). He also tries to kill the two hiers of the kingdom named Chhota Kumar and Bada Kumar but they survives. Shamsher Singh assumes that they are also killed and announces himself as the new Maharaja of the kingdom. Years later, he is the father of a beautiful daughter named Sunita ( Sulakshana Pandit ) and wants her to get married with Kunver Ranjeet Narayan Singh ( Roopesh Kumar ).

Bada Kumar and Chhota Kumar are also grown up guys now and now names themselves as Shakti Singh ( Shatrughan Sinha ) and Amar Singh ( Shashi Kumar ). Amar meets with Sunita and falls in love with her. Sunita too likes Amar and wants to get married with him only. Shakti and Amar are unknown to their relationship. Shakti knows about the killing of his parents and now seeks revenge from Shamsher Singh. But for that he has to fight with his own brother Amar who loves Sunita.
