Bollywood suspense thriller, Anamika, directed by Raghunath Jhalani was released in the year 1973. The movie starred Sanjeev Kumar and Jaya Bhaduri in lead roles while Iftekhar, Asrani, A. K. Hangal, Helen and Yunus Parvez were also seen plying important roles in the movie. The music of the film was given by famous music director, Rahul Dev Burman, while the songs were rendered by Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle etc. The movie was a box office hit and both Sanjeev and Jaya won several acclaims for their superb act in the movie.

The movie starts with a guy named Devendra Dutt ( Sanjeev Kumar ), who is a writer by profession. He hates woman as he was betrayed by his love in past, who preffered to get married with another well settled rich guy. Devendra now prefers to stay single. One day when he was returning to his home alongwith his uncle, Shiv rasad ( A. K. Hangal ) and secretary, Hanuman Singh ( Asrani ), he come across a girl lying injured on the road. He takes her home and calls a doctor for her checkup.

The next day, the girl regains her conciousness and then to everyone shock claims that she is Devendra’s wife. They all takes this in humour but later decides to let her stay in devendra’s home for few more days. With the passage of time, Devendra and the gril ( named Anamika ) falls in love with each other. Devendra learns that Anamika is actually a prostitue by the name of Kanchan. But before he can ask anything from her, Anamika dissappears from his life. Where is Anamika? Why she claimed that she is Devendra’s wife?
