The romantic comedy Anari No. 1 was released on April 9, 1999. The movie was directed by Kuku Kohli and produced by Aruna Irani. The important roles in the movie were played by Govinda, Simran, Raveena Tandon and Kader Khan while Satish Shah, Satyen Kappu and Razzak Khan also played important roles. The music of the film was directed by Dilip Sen and Sameer Sen while the songs were sung by Udit Narayan, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Amit Kumar, Pradeep Suri, Alka Yagnik, Abhijeet, Kumar Sanu and Preeti Uttam.

Anari No. 1 was a movie directed by Kuku Kohli that will make you relax and smile all the while you are busy watching it. The comedy movie revolves mostly around a waiter Raja ( Govinda ) working in a five-star hotel. He was an ambitious person and wanted to make big in his life. This quality of his won the heart of business tycoon K.K. saab ( Kader  Khan ) who helps this guy to become a millionaire one day. Twist in the story comes when he falls in love with housemaid Sapna ( Raveena Tandon ) thinking her as his dream girl.

Some time later, Raja, Sapna and Satar ( Satish Shah ), Raja’s friend who dealt mostly in stealing cars, set out in a new money making scheme. There lived an extremely rich guy who looked exactly similar to Raja, Rahul Saxena ( Govinda again ). Thus the poor trio had an idea of kidnapping him so that Raja can take place of him. They kidnap Rahul and to place him, Satar steals a mobile van of a criminal so that they can house Rahul in it. Now begin a series of laughter with some action performance.
