Bollywood action thriller, Angaaray, directed by Mahesh Bhatt and written by Robin Bhatt was released on July 24, 1998. The movie starred Akshay Kumar and Sonali Bendre in lead roles while Nagarjuna, Pooja Bhatt, Paresh Rawal, Gulshan Grover, Prabha Mathur, Kunal Khemu, Razak Khan and Mohan Kapoor also played significant characters in the film. The music of the film was directed by Anu Malik and Aadesh Srivastava in collaboration while the songs were rendered by Udit Narayan, Amit Kumar, Abhijeet, Aadesh Srivastava, Alka Yagnik etc.

The movie starts with young and brave Inspector Amar ( Akshay Kumar ), who is assigned a new and difficult task of arresting his childhood friends, Raja ( Nagarajuna ) and Jaggu ( Paresh Rawal ). But Amar wants to give a try to take away his friends from this crime world. Amar decides to join their gang once again as a criminal. Raja and Jaggu welcomes his heartedly and soon Amar starts attending the crime alongwith Raja and Jaggu. Amar also meets with his childhood love, Pooja ( Pooja Bhatt ) and tells her all about himself. Pooja too decides to keep his identity a secret till he achieves his target.

Raja is in love with a beautiful bar girl named Roma ( Sonali Bendre ). Roma also wants Raja to leave this crime world and starts living a new fresh life with her. But Raja and Jaggu are not willing to leave their criminal activities and they are fascinated about this and also they knows it very well that they will not be able to live a new life ever. How will Amar convince them to leave this wrong path?
