Bollywood family drama movie, Anmol Ghadi, directed by Mehboob Khan was released in the year 1946. The movie starred Surendra and Suraiya in lead roles while Noor Jehan, Noor Mahal, Pinchoo Kapoor, Amir banu, Murad, Anwari, Zahur Raja, Bhudo Advani and Leela Mishra also played important characters in the film. The hit melodious music of the movie was composed by the legendary music director Naushad while the songs were crooned by Mohammed Rafi, Shamshad Begum and Suriya herself.

Chandrabhan ( Surendra ) is living a poor lifestyle alongwith his mother in a small town. He is in love with a beautiful girl named Lata, who is the only daughter of a wealthy person. Chandrabhan gets heartbroken when Lata goes away from the town forever. Years later, Chandrabhan is working in a musical instrument repair shop. The shop is run by Prakash ( Zahur Raja ), who is also a close friend of Chandrabhan. Chandrabhan loves peotry and is a big fan of a female poet Renuka Devi ( Noor Jehan ).

Chandrabhan always dreams of meeting with her atleast once in his lifetime. His wish gets fulfilled when he gets a chance to meet with her. He reveals that the woman in reality is a girl named Basanti ( Suraiya ), who is in love with him. But later he reveals that Basanti is not actually Renuka devi. He then starts his search for the real Renuka Devi and get excited after knowing that Renuka Devi is none other than his childhood love, Lata.
