The movie Apna Asmaan was released on September 7, 2007 and was bannered under ImaginationWorks Prod. Co. Pvt. Ltd. The movie directed by Kaushik Roy comes under the genre of thriller and fantasy. Apna Asmaan was produced by Kaushik Roy and Umang Pahwa and includes the lead actors as Shobana, Anupam Kher, Irrfan Khan and Rajat Kapoor while other important roles were played by Nassar Abdulla, Utkarsha Naik and Barkha Singh. Music of the film was directed by Leslie Lewis and the songs were sung by Sukhwinder Singh, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shreya Ghosal and Shaan.

The movie is directed by Kaushik Roy who is a debutante and this is easily visible in the film. The fact that the director had no experience is depicted from the fact that the story goes off track after picking well. It was supposed to relate the story of a young boy but ends up narrating the side effects of money. The movie revolves around a young couple living in Bombay now called Mumbai. Ravi ( Irrfan Khan ) is a guy working to earn money in a field of plastics. His wife Padmini ( Shobhana ) decided to be a classical dancer but had to give up her promise so that she can get married and get settled with her husband.

Their son Buddhi ( Dhruv ) is a retarded child but loves to paint a lot. The couple had bad relationship between them and this was due to their mentally retarded son. Instead of encouraging him they did nothing because of their fear. Dr Sen, a neurologist manages Padmini to accept the bitter truth and Dr sathya, a scientist tells Ravi about his new invention that can turn the child into a genius. The only problem with the drug called Brain Booster is that it may cause Amnesia. In spite of the initial hesitation the parents opted for the treatment. The child soon recovers and became a perfect child.
