Bollywood drama movie, Apna Bana Ke Dekho, directed by K. Subash was released in the year 2001. The movie starred Prabhu Deva and Kirti Reddy in lead roles while Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Rami Reddy, Dalip Tahil, Yunus Parvez, Ajit Vacchani etc were also seen playing important characters in the film. The hit melodious music of the movie was directed by the music director Deva while the songs were rendered by Udit Narayan, Alka Yagnik etc.

Jankiraman aka Johnny ( Prabhu Deva ) is a small time theif and has been arrested several times by police. He is living a poor lifestyle alongwith his widowed mother. His mother is a superstitious women and once she asked a parrot astrolger about Johnny’s future to which he replied that Johnny will soon be a rich person and will also get married with a wealthy girl. Johnny then meets with a beautiful Sandhya Anand ( Kirti Reddy ) and falls in love with her. He introduces her to his mother, who eventually decides that only Sandhya will become her daughter-in-law. She is delighted that Sandhya belongs to a wealthy family.

But their dreams get shattered when Sandhya reveals that she considers Johnny just a good friend of her. She even ask Johnny to pick up a suitable groom for her from several photographs. Johnny controls his emotions and picks the photographs of Dinesh , who is the only son of a politician. But both Johnny and Sandhya’s life gets upturned when Johnny’s mother passes away.
