Apne was released on June 29, 2007 uner the banner of Glamour Entertainment Pvt. Ltd and Prime Focus Ltd. and was actually a social family drama. The movie has been directed by Anil Sharma and was produced by Rahul Sughand and Sangeeta Ahir. The lead roles were enacted by Dharmendra, Bobby Deol, Sunny Deol, Shilpa Shetty and Katrina Kaif whereas there were other actors like Divya Dutta, Parvin Dabbas and Javed Sheikh. The music has been directed by Himesh Reshammiya and the songs were sung by Himesh Reshammiya, Sonu Nigam, Shaan, Jayesh Gandhi, Akruti Kakkar, Kunal Ganjawala and Jaspinder Narula.

The director of the movie Anil Sharma is quite famous for his extra ordinary release Gadar and this time is back again with a movie that emphasizes the family bonding and love in Apne. The movie displays family relationships and what all it takes to build a united family. The movie starts when Baldev Singh Choudhary ( Dharmendra ) wins a gold medal at the Olympics to make India feel proud of it. He had a better dream of making history by becoming the India’s first World Heavy weight Champion in boxing. But all the dreams don’t get fulfilled and this was something that he missed a lot.

When Baldev was in US for a World Heavy Weight Championship match, the US people especially the mafia involved didn’t want him to win the title. So they charged him with the doping charges and got him banned from Boxing for 15 years. To have this false charges removed, he decided to put his elder son Angad ( Sunny Deol ) in Boxing and make him the World Heavyweight Champion. But Angad had some other dreams for him and thus Baldev’s younger son Karan ( Bobby Deol ) decided to fulfill his father’s dreams. But life takes a turn and Angad also steps in Boxing to take some revenge.
