Ashanti was an action film released on May 7, 1982. The movie was directed by Umesh Mehra and produced by Parvesh C Mehra. The major roles in the movie were played by Zeenat Aman, Rajesh Khanna, Shabana Azmi and Parveen Babi while the roles of Mithun Chakraborty, Amrish Puri, Kanwaljeet Singh, Mohan Choti, Bob Christo and Avtar Gill were equally important. The music of the film was directed by R D Burman while the songs were sung by Asha Bhosle, Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar and Shailendra Singh.

Ashanti was an action movie that evolved mostly around an honest, simple and true Police Inspector named Kumar Chandra Singh ( Rajesh Khanna ). One day he gets the news that there would be a bank robbery in a bank and he was required to reach there soon. He was about to prevent the robbery and arrest the robbers but the twist in the story was that he himself turns out to be a suspect as he was found with the suitcase of money filled with the money stolen from the bank.

Kumar was arrested by the police who took all his powers and decisions. He was tried in court and was sentenced the lifetime imprisonment. This news made his mother shocked who then dies of his state. Moreover Kumar was crippled in an accident and use crutches to walk on his own. He aimed to take his revenge from the criminals who were responsible for this state of his. And for this he finds support in Kamini, Sonia, Sunita, and Shanker Dada but he didn’t know that one of these women was responsible for his arrest.
