Aurat Teri Yehi Kahani was a social movie released in the year of 1988. The movie was directed by Mohanji Prasad and produced by B Jaiswal, M Prasad and S Jain. The significant roles in the movie were enacted by Raj Babbar, Raj Kiranm, Meenakshi Seshadri and Pran while Shreeram Lagoo, Nirupa Roy, Kader Khan and Shoma Anand were also there in the film. The music of the film was directed by Laxmikant Kudalkar and Pyarelal while the songs were sung by Mohammad Aziz and Kavita Krishnamurthy.

The movie Aurat Teri Yehi Kahani was a social movie that raises the condition of the ladies in this modern world and the problems faced by them. The movie starts with Savitri ( Meenakshi Sheshadri ) whose mother passes away soon after giving birth to her, leaving her disabled dad Dharamraj ( Shreeram Lagoo ) with no option but to remarry another lady named Champa ( Aruna Irani ) who then gives birth to a boy Ketan ( Shashi Puri ). Champa is very cruel to Savitri and shows her nature by constantly beating and assaulting her.

Years later, when everyone has matures, Dharamraj has fallen deep in the alcohol. Ketan also gets a job in the city and thus moves out. They receive a letter from him that he has got a job, but needs a security deposit of a thousand Rupees. Savitri thus agrees to marry a rich widower, Thakur ( Nilu Phule ) in lieu of money so that Ketan could work in the city. Savitri, who loved Satyavan ( Raj Babbar ), is forced to marry Thakur, but on the night of the marriage, Thakur dies because of a snake bite.
