The social movie Awaam was released on September 11, 1987. The movie was directed as well as produced by B R Chopra. The major roles in the movie were played by Rajesh Khanna, Ashok Kumar, Smita Patil and Raj Babbar while the roles of Saeed Jaffrey, Poonam, Manisha and Nana Patekar were also important.
