Songs of Awaaz


The movie Awaaz was a romantic movie released on 23 November, 1984. The movie was produced and directed by Shakti Samanta. The lead roles in the movie were played by Rajesh Khanna, Jaya Prada, Suresh Oberoi and Prem Chopra. Other nice supporting roles were played by Rakesh Roshan, Beena, Amrish Puri and Supriya Pathak. The music of the movie was directed by R D Burman while the songs were sung by Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhosle. The lyrics were written by Anand Bakshi.

The movie opens with Advocate Jayant ( Rajesh Khanna ) who is a corrupt official and all that matters to him is money. His prime aim is to save his client though he may be guilty. His friend Amit, who was a police inspector always used to tell him to be with the truth and be more responsible towards his profession. Soon Amit ( Suresh Oberoi ) is killed and his death is declared as a mere accident. Later, Amit’s younger brother Vijay ( Rakesh Roshan ) joins the police who believes his brother was killed.

Vijay investigates the case and finds that his brother was murdered by the underworld gangsters and arrests the gangsters Mulchand’s ( Amrish Puri ) son. Mulchand wanted his son bailed at any cost. Meanwhile, Jayant’s wife and sister are raped and his wife unable to tolerate the shock dies. Mulchand kidnaps Jayant’s daughter Nandita and blackmails him to bail his son out otherwise he will kill Nandita. Jayant had no idea that these are the people responsible for the misery of his family. Jayant somehow wins the case but Nandita is still with Mulchand. Vijay helps him get out of the situation.
