The family drama Babu was released on November 22, 1985. The movie was directed by A V Tirlokchander and produced by V R Parameshwaran. The actors in the lead roles were Rajesh Khanna, Deepak Parashar, Hema Malini and Rati Agnihotri while the supporting roles were played by Paintal, Madan Puri, Mala Sinha, Agha, Baby Geeta, Mukri and Naveen Nischol. The music of the film was directed by Rajesh Roshan while the songs were sung by Lata Mangeshkar, Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhosle.

The movie Babu was a social cum family movie that revolved mostly around a man named Babu ( Rajesh Khanna ). He is a young person who likes helping others and didn’t mind even if this generosity of his costs him. He was bowled over by a young girl named Kammo ( Hema Malini ) but one day when trying to help some one, he landed up in jail. He was sentenced two years of jail imprisonment but was surprised to see the change when he comes out of it.

When Babu was released from the jail, he finds that the lady he helped once was now a destitute widow living with her small child all alone in a small house. He decides to help her at any cost and starts driving a rickshaw for her and her child. He saves money for them so that he could buy them some thing really required. Her daughter Pinky ( Rati Agnihotri ) was also given admission with the help of Babu but it was not a good experience for her there.
