Bollywood musical drama, Baiju Bawra, directed by Vijay Bhatt and written by R. S. Chaudhary was released in the year 1952. The movie starred Bharat Bhushan and Meena Kumari in lead roles while Manmohan Krishna, Kuldeep Kaur, Surendra, Radhakrishan, Nadir, Mishra, Bipin Gupta, Rai Mohan and Rattan Kumar also played significant characters in the film. The melodious evergreen romantic music of the movie was directed by legendary music director Naushad while the songs were rendered by Mohammed Rafi, Ustad Amir Khan, Lata Mangeshkar, Shamshad Begum etc.

The movie starts with a guy named Baijnath aka Baiju ( Bharat Bhushan ), who is fond of singing. He wants to be a singer in the palace of Emperoro Akbar. His singing talent soon brings him in the palace of Emperor Akbar where he is asked to compete with Tansen ( Surendra ). He does compete with tansen in singing but fails to beat him. Despite of his loss to Tansen’s hands, Emperor Akbar get impressed by his singing talent. He appoint him as a singer in his palace.

Baiju meets with a beautiful girl named Gauri ( Meena Kumari ) in the Emperor’s palace. After few more meeting with gauri, Baiju get attracted towards her. Soon they both falls in love with each other and decides to get married. But Baiju’s life gets upturned when his father is killed in a disturbance near the house of Emperor’s close person. Whether baiju will get justice or not?
