Bollywood fantasy flick, Bajrangbali, directed by Chandrakant was released on September 22, 1976. The movie starred Dara Singh, Shashi Kapoor and Moushami Chatterjee in lead roles while Biswajeet, Pran, Prem Nath, Durga Khote, Jagdish Raj, Mehmood and Asit Sen also played significant characters in the film. The music of the movie was was directed by the veteran music director duo Kalyanji-Anandji while the songs were rendered by Mahendra Kapoor, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle etc.

Son of Pawan ( God ), Maruti ( Dara Singh ), born with supernatural powers in the vanar family based in Kishigandha. He tries to swallow the sun on one occasion assuming it to be a big mango. After this incident he becomes famous with another name, Bajrangbali. He completes his education from Surya Dev and in return Surya Dev ask him to help his son, Sugriv, in future. Bali abducts Sugriv’s wife and he is forced to run away from there. Hanuman comes to his rescue and manage to save him from Bali’s anger.

Bajrangbali then meets with his mentor, Bhagwan Shri Ram ( Biswajeet ), who comes alongwith his younger brother, Laxman ( Shashi Kapoor ) in search of his wife, Sita ( Moushami Chatterjee ). Ram kills Bali and reinstate Sugriv as the king of Kishigandha. Bajrangbali reveals that Maa Sita has been abducted by Ravan ( Prem Nath ), king of Lanka. Bajrangbali locates Sitaji and returns to tell this to Shri Ram. Now the only motive of Bajrangbali is to help Ramji in fighting against Ravan and freeing Sitaji from custody of Ravan.
