Bollywood family drama, Balika Badhu, directed by Tarun Majumdar was released in the year 1976. The movie starred Sachin and Rajni Sharma in lead roles while Prema Narayan, Asrani, Urmila Bhatt, Asit Sen, A. K. Hangal, Preeti Ganguly, Birbal, Om Shivpuri and Paintal also played important characters in the film. The melodious music of the movie was directed by none other than the veteran music director Rahul Dev Burman while the songs were beautifully rendered by Kishore Kumar, Mohammed Rafi, Amit Kumar and Asha Bhonsle.

The movie starts with a school going boy named Amal ( Sachin ), whose marraige has been arranged with a girl named Rajni ( Rajni Sharma ). Soon they both get married to each other. They falls in love with each other after spending some time together. Rajni is then forced to live alongwith her parents till Amal completes his education. Rajni then goes on a Tirth Yatra alongwith her parents. Rajni is planned to visit all the famous holy places of the country alongwith her parents.

But their life gets upturned when Amal’s master ji is arrested by police in the charge of being a freedom fighter. This one incident changes the complete scenario of Amal and Rajni’s life. What effect will take place of Amal and Rajni’s life because of the arrest of Masterji is the rest of the story.
