Bollywood romantic action thriller, Barsaat, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi was released on September 29, 1995. The movie starred Bobby Deol and Twinkle Khanna in lead roles while Danny Denzongpa, Raj Babbar, Mukesh Khanna, Harish Patel, Anjan Srivastav, Bharat Kapoor, Ashwin Kaushal, VIjay Kashayap, Viju Khote and Kiran Juneja also played important roles in the film. The music of the movie was given by famous music director duo Nadeem-Shrawan in collaboration with Louis Banks while the songs were sung by Kumar sanu, Sadhana Sargam, Alka Yagnik, Kavita Krishanmurthy etc. The movie marked the debut of Bobby and Twinkle in the bollywood industry. However the movie was a huge box officer failure.

The movie starts with young and handsome Badal ( Bobby Deol ), who arrives in the city to study in the college. He lives with his friend named Damru ( Harish Patel ) in the city. On his first day of college, he meets with a beautiful but proudy girl name Tina Oberoi ( Twinkle Khanna ), who belongs to a rich family. Though they starts with a fight but soon falls in love with each other. However, Tina’s father Dinesh Oberoi ( Raj Babbar ) is against this love relationship between Badal and Tina. Dinesh wants Tina to marry his friend’s son. Tina refuse to this and tells him straightaway that she will marry Badal only.

Dinesh Oberoi then takes help of a corrupt cop named Neghi ( Danny Denzongpa ) to remove Badal from Tina’s life. Neghi arrests Badal on false charges and beats him badly in the lockup. Damru informs Badal’s father about this and he arrives there. Badal is still determined to marry Tina. Badal and Tina runs away from the city. Dinesh Oberoi gives the contract of killing Badal to Neghi. Neghi starts his search for Badal and Tina but this task proved out to be a nightmare for him. Dinesh Oberoi also has a secret reason to marry Tina to his friend’s son only. What is that reason?
