Bollywood romantic drama flick, Basant Bahar, directed by Raja nawathe was released in the year 1956. The movie starred Bharat Bhushan and Nimmi in lead roles while Prasuram, Leela Chitnis, Shyam Kumar, Chandrashekhar, Chand Burke, Manmohan Krishna, Kumkum and Om Prakash also played important characters in the film. THe hit melodious music of the movie was directed by the hit veteran music director duo Shankar Jaikishen while the songs were beautifully sung by Mohammed Rafi, Manna Dey, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle etc.

Nasrin ( Om Prakash ) is living a wealthy lifestyle alongwith his wife ( Leela Chitnis ) and a son named Gopal ( Bharat Bhushan ). Nasrin is an astrologer by profession. He is the royal astrolger of the emporer ( Chandrashekhar ). He always gives suggesstion to emperor on the basis of his astrology knowledge. He wants his son, Gopal to also learn astrology. He wants him to become his successor. But Gopal is not interested in the astrology at all and is actually passionate about music. Gopal wants to make a career in music.

Gopal soon becomes famous for his singing in the region. Everyone starts believing that he will become emperor’s chief musician after winning a contest. But everyone get shocked when Gopal is poisioned by someone and he looses his voice completely. Gopal’s girlfriend, Gopi ( Nimmi ) then comes forwards and decides to help him in regaining his voice. What will happen now?
