Bollywood suspense thriller, Bhola Bhala, directed by Satpal and written by Ramesh Pant was released on April 25, 1978. The movie starred Rajesh Khanna and Rekha in lead roles while Moushami Chatterjee, Sulochana Latkar, Pinchoo Kapoor, Satyendra kapoor, Jagdeep, Mumtaz Begum and Raj Mehra also played significant characters in the film. The melodious music of the film was composed by the veteran music director Rahul Dev Burman while the songs were rendered by Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle etc.

The movie starts with a guy named Ram Kumar Verma ( Rajesh Khanna ), who works as a Insurance Agent. He gets a transfer to the Madhya Pradesh. He meets with his look alike named Nathu Singh ( Rajesh Khanna ) during his train journey. Nathu is mistaken as an emperor by Ram and hence gets him insure himself for an amount of Rs. 5 lakh. Ram then returns to his company and is heartedly welcomed by his boss. Ram later learns that Nathu is actually a dacait and is wanted dead or alive by police.

Ram now decides to go to Nathiya once again to cancel his insurance policy. Ram saves Nathu’s son from a certain death and earns the gratitude of Bathu and his wife, Champa ( Rekha ). Ram also learns that Nathu was a very kind person in his past but was forced to become a dacait by some bad elements of the society. Nathiya gets injured while performing a robbery. Ram brings his fiend Renu ( Moushami Chatterjee ) there, who is a doctor by profession.
