Songs of Bhumika
The social drama Bhumika was released on November 11, 1977. The movie was directed by Shyam Benegal and produced by Freni M Variava and Lalit M Bijlani. The key roles in the movie were enacted by Smita Patil, Anant Nag, Naseruddin Shah and Amol Palekar while Amrish Puri, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Kiran Virale, Abhishek, Narendra and Mohan Agashe were also there in the movie. The music of the film was directed by Vanraj Bhatia while the songs were sung by Bhupinder and Priti Sagar.
The movie Bhumika was a social drama that revolved mostly around a girl named Urvashi ( Smita Patil ) who is a poor girl coming from a small and destitute family. She was the person who was required to earn some money for her family thus she was encouraged by her mother Shanta ( Sualbha Deshpande ) to be friendly with Keshav Dalvi ( Amol Palekar ). Keshav was impressed by her beauty and looks and thus advised her to try her talent in films.
Urvashi did give a try and started gaining popularity first starting as a singer and then accomplishing herself as an actress/singer. She had also fell in love with Keshav and wanted to marry him but she was discouraged by her mother but she was so desperate to marry him that both get married. She gives birth to a baby girl after marriage but her life took a turn when she loses interest in Keshav and thus started having affairs with Rajan ( Anant Nag ), a film producer.
