Bollywood blockbuster movie, Border, was released on 13 June 1997. The movie was witten and directed by J. P. Dutta. The movie starred Sunny Deol, Suniel Shetty, Akshay Khanna and Jackie Shrauff in lead roles while Puneet Issar, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Sudesh Berry and Rakhi also played important roles in the film. The superhit music of the film was given by Anu Malik and the songs were sung by Sonu Nigam, Hariharan, Alka Yagnik, Roop Kumar Rathod, Shankar Mahadevan and Sonali Rathod. The movie distributed under the banner of Venus Records and Tapes Pvt. Ltd. The movie won Filmfare Best Film award and Fimfare Best Director award.

The movie is a war film based on the India-Pakistani War of 1971. Infact the story of the film is inspired by the real life event of Longewala battle of 1971. The movie is about a band of 120 soldiers of Indian Army. Major Kuldeep Singh ( Sunny Deol ) is the head of this band of soldiers. The movie shows how this band of just 120 soldiers successfully defends their post by fighting all night against a whole Tank regiment of the Pakistani Army. Some of the soldiers even loose their life while fighting for their country.
