Bollywood romantic comedy drama, Bride & Prejudice, directed by Gurinder Chadha and written by Jane Austen was released on October 8, 2004. The movie starred Martin Henderson and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in lead roles while Meghna Kothari, Namrata Shirodkar, Marsha Mason, Anupam Kher, Sonali Kulkarni, Nadira Babbar, Piya Rai Chaudhary, Indira verma, Naveen Andrews and Nitin Ganatra also played important roles in the film. The melodious music of the movie was composed by Anu Malik in collaboration whith Craig Pruess while the songs were crooned by Sonu Nigam, Alka Yagnik etc.

The movie starts with four sisters, Jaya ( Namrata Shirodkar ), Lalita( Aishwarya Rai ), Lakhi ( Piya Rai Chaudhary ) and Maya ( Meghna Kothari ), who are living a happy life alongwith her parents in Amritsar. Their mother, Manorama ( Nadira Babbar ) wants her daughters to get married with rich guys. She ask her husband, Chaman Bakshi ( Anupam Kher ) to immigrate to London but he refuses. But she becomes happy when an NRI Balraj ( Naveen Andrews ) offers to get married with Jaya. Balraj arrives at jaya’s home alongwith his friend, William Darcy ( Martin Henderson ).

Balraj then alongwith William and Lalita travels to Goa. Lalita meets with a guy named Johny Wickam there. She then ask him to come at her house. William get attracted to Lalita and decides to get married with her. But Manorama wants Lalita to get married with Kohli from California. Lalita alongwith her family travels to California to meet with Balraj but get shocked to find that Balraj is not available there. She then contacts William, who recieves the family. It is then William tells about the reason for which Balraj has broken contact with the family.
