Chalbaaz was a comedy action movie released on December 8, 1989 under the banner of Lakshmi Production. The movie was directed by Pankaj Parashar and produced by Purnachandra Rao. The significant roles in the movie were played by Sunny Deol, Rajinikanth, Sridevi and Anu Kapoor while the roles of Anupam Kher, Saeed Jaffrey, Kader Khan and Rohini Hattangadi were also important. The music of the film was directed by Laxmikant Kudalkar and Pyarelal while the songs were sung by Suresh Wadkar, Jolly Mukherjee, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Amit Kumar, Johny Lever and Mohammad Aziz.

Chalbaaz was an action cum comedy flick that revolved mostly around Anju ( Sridevi ) who is a simple and innocent girl living with her Uncle, Tribhuvan ( Anupam Kher ) and aunt, Amba ( Rohini Hattangadi ). Both her relatives were didn’t like her and so used to abuse her physically and emotionally and also used to keep her drugged so that she is out of her mind always. They all lived together in a palatial house and thus Anju was required to do all the house work.

While Anju liked to dance her uncle didn’t like that and always isolated her from doing that. Anju has someone in her favor, he is Dayal ( Annu Kapoor ) who always protected her from her uncle’s beatings. The twist in the story comes when there is entry of Manju ( Sridevi ) who is Anju’s look-alike. She likes to drink beer, fight with men and do all that stuff that Anju didn’t like doing. Manju has a friend in Jaggu ( Rajnikanth ) who is usually quiet and soft spoken.
