Chameli Ki Shadi was a romantic and comic movie released on February 21, 1986. The movie was directed by Basu Chatterjee and produced by Ramesh Ningoo and Shashil Gaur. The main roles in the movie were played by Anil Kapoor, Anu Kapoor, Amrita Singh and Amjad Khan while the presence of Om Prakash, Pankaj Kapoor, Baby Tabassum, Satyen Kappu and Bharti Achrekar supported the film. The music of the film was directed by Anandji and Kalyanji Veerji while the songs were sung by Asha Bhonsle, Anwar, Alka Yagnik and Anil Kapoor.

Chameli Ki Shadi was a good romantic and comedy film that revolved mostly around a man named Charandas ( Anil Kapoor ) who lived a poor lifestyle with his elder brother Bhajandas ( Satyen Kappu ), and Bhabhi ( Baby Tabassum ) in a small town of India. He is currently unemployed and thus commits himself to a wrestler Ustad Mastram Pahelwan ( Om Prakash ) and wishes to be a great wrestler until he is at the age of 40.

However this could not actually happen as the movie takes a turn when Charandas came across a school going girl named Chameli. Both finds each other attracted to each other and fell in love with each other. Chameli, the daughter of a low caste coal merchant started going on dates with him and both started exchanging love letters as well. This was not liked by her father Kallumal ( Pankaj Kapoor ) who wants to be the next Municipal Chairman. Her mother Champa ( Bharti Achrekar ) was also against them.
