The social romantic film Cheeni Kum was released on May 25, 2007 unedr the banner of MAD Entertainment Ltd. The movie has been directed by R Balakrishnan and produced by Sunil Manchanda. The main roles were enacted by Amitabh Bachchan, Tabu and Swini Khara whereas supporting roles were performed by Paresh Rawal, Zohra Sehgal and Vinay Jain. The music of the film was directed by Illaiyaraja and the songs of the film were sung by Shreya Ghosal, Vijay Prakash and Amitabh Bachchan.

Cheeni Kum is a sweet movie based on love between two matured people filled with good humour at many places. The movie raises the fact that “the love knows no boundaries of ages and can happen to anyone”. The couple in the movie has a good age difference between them about 30 years but is still in love. The movie revolves around matured yet romantic Buddhadev ( Amitabh Bachchan ) who is a 64 year old NRI chef cum owner of London’s top Indian restaurant and still a bachelor. He met a simple and beautiful 34 year old girl Nina Verma ( Tabu ) from Delhi and fell in love with her.

Buddhadev Gupta lives with her 85 year old grandmother and didn’t have anybody else except his best friend Sexy ( Swini Khara ) who is his 9 year old neighbor. Buddhadev has been an arrogant man but his foremost passion was cooking. Love had not happened to him before and that with Nina was his first. The most difficult task for Buddhadev was to convince Nina’s father Omprakash Verma ( Paresh Rawal ) who was incidentally six years younger to his would be son-in-law. Nina’s father Omprakash was a simple man living in Delhi and was looking for a decent match for Nina.
