China Gate was an action thriller movie released on November 27, 1998 under the banner of Santoshi Productions. The movie was directed and produced by Rajkumar Santoshi. The key roles in the movie were played by Tinu Anand, Danny Denzongpa, Naseruddin Shah and Jagdeep while Kulbhushan Kharbanda and Mamta Kulkarni weer also there. The music of the film was directed by Anu Malik and the songs were sung by Sapna Awasthi, Shankar Mahadevan, Vinod Rathod, Hariharan, Anu Malik and Alka Yagnik.

China Gate was an action movie released in this time when Bollywood had been busy producing either romantic movies or comedy movies. The movie features ten actors in the lead out of which the acting of Om Puri, Naseeruddin Shah, Amrish Puri, and Danny stands out. The youth essence to the movie was given by Mamta Kulkarni and Samir Soni. The movie is a debut movie for Mukesh Tiwari. The story of the movie is about ten former army men who were court-martialed for the charge of fleeing from the battlefield. They are now regarded as cowards and are living a worse life.

The fate of these ten people make them cross each other’s path when they were approached to safeguard a village ( Devdurg ) from the terror of evil dacoit Jageera ( Mukesh Tiwari ). The effects of the movie looked like that of Sholay and this is the place the movie lacked originality. Watching the terror in town the group of those ten people gets ready to protect the villagers from the terror of Jageera. Several battles occur and the momentum keeps on changing from one side to another.
