Bollywood action thriller, China Town, directed by Shakti Samanta and written by Ranjan Bose was released in the year 1962. The movie starred Shammi Kapoor and Shakila in lead roles while Kanu Roy, Helen, Madan Puri, Jeevan Kala, Keshto Mukherjee, Rashid Khan, Mridula Rani, S. N. Banerjee and keshav Rana also played important roles in the film. The hit music of the movie was directed by the veteran music director Ravi while the songs were sung by Mohammed Rafi, Asha Bhonsle etc.

Shekhar ( Shammi Kapoor ) is living a middle class lifestyle alongwith his mother. He is a siger by profession and is in love with a beautiful girl named Rita ( Shakila ). Rita is the only daughter of a welathy guy named Rai Bahadur Digamber Prasad ( S. N. Banerjee ). Rai does not want her daughter to get married with Shekhar. Rita ask Shekhar to find a better job for himself but shekhar refuse to do so as he is quite happy with his singing career. Rita is forced to re locate to Calcutta alongwith her father. Shekhar also follows them there.

Shekhar is arrested by police on the complains of Rai. Situation changes suddenly when Shekhar is asked to work as an undercover agent by police. Shekhar is asked to impersonate his look alike a china town gangster, Mike ( Shammi Kapoor ). Mike is in police custody but is refusing to tell anything about his work. Shekhar agrees to do so. But problem arises when Mike manage to escape from police custody and eturns to his den, only to find Shekhar there.
