The social movie Chingaari was released on February 17, 2006 under the banner of Perfect Magic. The movie was directed by Kalpana Lajmi and produced by Kalpana Lajmi and Vikas Sahni. The top roles were enacted by Sushmita Sen, Anuj Sawhney and Mithun Chakraborty whereas the presence of Ila Arun and Swini Khara supported the fillm. The music of the film was directed by Aadesh Shrivastav and the songs were sung by Sunidhi Chauhan, Vijyeta Pandit, Aadesh Shrivastav and Himani Kapoor.

Chingaari was something more soecial to the lead actress in the film Sushmita Sen. She received the best actress award for her performance in the film for the year 2006 and even before that, her performance was applauded by most of the audiences. The story of the movie is about a prostitute, a postman and a priest. Basanti ( Sushmita Sen ) was the most demanded prostitute of the village and even for the head priest, Bhuvan Panda ( Mithun da ), of the village she meant something more. Bhuvan never spared anyone, not even the prostitutes as he always exploited them emotionally.

There comes a new postman Chandan Mishra ( Anuj Sawhney ) in the village with a mission of improving the lives of the prostitutes. Even selling her body for over hundred times, Basanti fell in love with the kind hearted postman. Chandan promises her to marry her and give her daughter the name of a father. Bhuvan didn’t like this and Chandan loses his life in the process of improving the lives of the prostitutes. This brings the revolutionary part of the movie and one can see Basanti screaming to get her frustration out.
