Yesteryear hit bollywood movie, Chor Machaye Shor, directed by Ashok Roy was released on March 18, 1974. The movie starred Shashi Kapoor and Mumtaz in lead roles while Danny Denzonpa, Madan Puri, Asrani, Tarun Ghosh, Kamal Kapoor and Asit Sen allso played important roles in the movie. The music of the film was given by Ravindra Jain while the songs were rendered by Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Mohammed Rafi, Asha Bhonsle etc. The movie recieved positive response from the audience and went on to become one of the biggest hit of that year.

The movie starts with a young and handsome guy, Vijay Sharma ( Shashi Kapoor ), who is a engineer by profession. He is in love with a beautiful girl named Rekha ( Mumtaz ) and planning to get married with her. Rekha is the daughter of a rich industrialist, Jagdish Prasad ( Kamal Kapoor ). Rekha introduces Vijay to her father but Jagdish Prasad is not happy with his daughter’s choice and wants her to get married with someone else. However, Rekha goes against her father’s decision and prefers to marry Vijay instead of any rich guy.

But before Vijay could marry Rekha, he is framed by Jagdish Prasad in a murder case. And much to his shock, his beloved Rekha speaks against him in the court. Vijay is sentenced to prison. Vijay is in anger and wants to teach Rekha a lesson. In jail, Vijay befriends a criminal Raj ( Danny Denzogpa ) and his two mens.Vijay with the help of Raj manages to run away from the jail. Vijay has only one mission in his life now. He just want to know why Rekha betrayed him?
