The romantic comedy film Chup Chup Ke was released on June 9, 2006 under the banner of UTV Motion Pictures. The movie was directed by Priyadarshan and produced by Ronnie Screwvala. The lead roles in the film were played by Shahid Kapoor, Neha Dhupia, Kareena Kapoor and Sunil Shetty while the roles of Rajpal Yadav, Sushma Reddy, Paresh Rawal and Shakti Kapoor were also important. The music of the film was directed by Himesh Reshammiya and the songs were sung by Tulsi Kumar, Akruti Kakkar, Kunal Ganjawala, Sonu Nigam and K K.

The movie Chup Chup Ke was Priyadarshan’s another attempt to make the public laugh and was earlier decided to be titled as Khatta Meetha. The story of the movie revolves around Jeetu ( Shahid Kapur ) who is burdened with huge debt and thus he is dodging the lenders. This not only affected his father Jayved Prasad ( Anupam Kher ) but also his fiancé Pooja ( Sushma Reddy ). Jeetu was told by everyone including Pooja’s father that it would be better he would kill himself. Jeetu tried to kill himself by jumping in the sea and thought that the insurance claim would help his father.

Jeetu finds himself in the nets of fishermen Bandya ( Paresh Rawal ) and Gundya ( Rajpal Yadav ) who saves him. But Gundya owe a businessman Prabhat Singh Chauhan ( Om Puri ) some money and thus agrees to lend the services of Jeetu and Bandya for the time being. Jeetu tries to save himself from doing any work by being deaf and mute but the complications emerge in the story when Chauhan’s niece Shruti ( Kareena Kapoor ) also turns out to be the same. One night Shruti and Meenakshi ( Neha Dhupia ) discovers Jeetu singing and dancing. Shruti agrees to keep it a secret if he causes the cancellation of her marriage to a greedy man.
