Bollywood action comedy drama, Daadi Maa, directed by L. V. Prasad and written by Mukhram Sharma was released in the year 1966. The movie starred Ashok Kumar and Mumtaz in lead roles while Mehmood, Dilip Raj, Kanhaiyalal, Praveen Rai, Mohan Chotti, Durga Khote, Jankidas, David Abraham and Tanuja also played important characters in the film. The hit melodious music of the movie was directed by the well knwon veteran music director Roshan while the songs were crooned by Mahendra Kapoor, Manna Dey and Lata Mangeshkar.

The movie starts with a guy named Pratap ( Ashok Kumar ), who lives a wealthy lifestyle alongwith his mother, Maharani ( Durga Khote ). Pratap is married to Parvati but the couple are childless. This one thing create difference between the two and as a result of this Parvati moves out of the house. She starts living alongwith Dr. Bharti and his wife. Pratap also moves out of the house after having an argument with his mother. Pratap learns that Pravati has given birth to a child. But he still wants to keep a difference from Parvati and therefore abducts the child.

But soon he realises his mistake and patches up with Parvati. They starts living together once again and also adopts an orphaned child named Shomu ( Dilip Raj ). They names their child, Shankar ( Kashi Nath ). Years later, both Shomu and Shankar are grown up guys now and are in love with Shaguna ( Tanuja ) and Seema ( Mumtaz ) respectively. Seema is the daughter of a rich businessman while Shaguna belongs to a poor family much to the chargein of Pratap.
