Bollywood movie, Daag: A Poem Of Love, directed by renowned filmmaker Yash Chopra was released in the year 1973. The movie starred Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore in lead roles while Rakhee Gulzar, Kader Khan, Iftekhar, Prem Chopra and Madan Puri also played significant characaters in the film. The music of the film was given by hit ‘Jodi’ Laxmikant Pyarelal while the songs were sung by Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar etc. The movie went on to become one of the biggest hit of that year.

The movie starts with a young handsome guy, Sunil Kohli ( Rajesh Khanna ), who gets attracted toward a beautiful women named Sonia ( Sharmila Tagore ). Soon they both get married to each other. They leave for their honeymoon but on the way because of some bad weather decides to spend a night at Sunil’s Boss bunglaw. There Sunil’s boss’s son, Dheeraj Kapoor ( Prem Chopra ) attempts to rape Sonia in alone. But Sunil’s arrives there and fights with him resulting in the death of Dheeraj.

Sunil gets arrested by Police and sent to jail. He is sentenced to death by the court. But on the way to prison, the police van meets with an accident and all persons are killed. Years after, Sonia, who is living as Sunil’s widow and working as a school teacher, finds out that Sunil is still alive. She learns that Sunil is living with a new identity of Sudhir and is married to a rich women named Chandani ( Rakhee ). But is he really Sunil or a lookalike of Sunil?
