The action movie Dacait was released on April 9, 1987. The movie was directed and produced by Rahul Rawail. The major roles in the movie were played by Sunny Deol,  Rakhee, Meenakshi Seshadri and Raza Murad while the roles of Suresh Oberoi, Paresh Rawal, Satyajit Puri and Urmila Matondkar were also important. The music of the film was directed by R D Burman while the songs were sung by Kumar Sanu, Asha Bhosle, Suresh Wadkar, Shailendra Singh, Shabbir Kumar, Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar.

The movie Dacait was an action flick that showcased the bordering area of Chambal River besides which many small villages are located. There was a village where lived a guy named Arjun Yadav ( Sunny Deol ) with his mother Devi Chodhrain ( Rakhee ), his elder brother Amrit ( Suresh Oberoi ), his bhabi, nephew, and younger sister. Arjun was an educated guy who has completed his studies in the city and has returned to the village to live with his family.

The turn in the story of the movie comes when the Zamindar Thakur Bhanvar Singh ( Raza Murad ) with his brother Badri ( Dan Dhanoa ) wanted to have all the land that is occupied by the poor people of the village. The plan they made for this purpose was to trick the people and get them to sign the papers in their favor. Even the people who looked after the law in the village were in sync with the Zamindar. The police officer Bishnu Pandey ( Paresh Rawal ) seemed to work for Thakur Bhanvar Singh.
