Bollywood movie, Daddy, directed by Mahesh Bhatt and written by Suraj Sanim was released in the year 1989. The movie starred Anupam Kher and Pooja Bhatt in lead roles while Manohar Singh, Soni Razdan, Suhas Joshi, Avtar Gill, Neena Gupta, Satish kaushik and Sulabha Arya also played important roles in the film. The melodious hit music of the movie was directed by the well knwon music director Rajesh Roshan while the songs were rendered by Suresh Wadkar, Talat Aziz, Dilraj Kaur and Arun Ingle.

The movie starts with a beautiful girl named Pooja ( Pooja Bhatt ), who has been brought up by her grandprents. She is told by his grandfather, Kantaprasad ( Manohar Singh ) that her father and mother died in an accident. Pooja has now grown up and she starts getting some mysterious phone calls from a guy who always says one thing that he loves her. Pooja tells this to her grandfather who sends some goons to beat severely that guy named Anand ( Anupam Kher ). Anand is warned to stop making phone calls to Pooja.

One day a male tries to molest Pooja in her home but Anand comes to her rescue. It is then Pooja reveals that Anand is none other than her own father. Pooja confronts this to her grandfather who tells her that Anand was the one who was responsible for the death of her mother. However, Anand denies of this fact. Now Pooja has to decide whether she should trust her grandfather or her alcholic father.
