Bollywood horror flick, Dahshat, directed by Shyam Ramsay and written by Kumar Ramsay was released on June 19, 1981. The movie starred Navin Nishcol and Sarika in lead roles while Pinchoo Kapoor, Nadira, Narendra Nath, Om Shivpuri, Chand Usmani, Ramesh Deo, Madan Puri, Bharat Bhushan and Narendra Nath also played significant characters in the film. The hit melodious music of the movie was directed by the hit music director Bappi Lahiri while the songs were crooned by Kishore Kumar, Sulakshana Pandit, Asha Bhonsle etc.

Dr. Vishal ( Om Shivpuri ) is living a wealthy but not happy lifestyle alongwith his wife ( Nadira ). He has no faith on his wife. He always remains busy in his various deadly scietific experiments which he usually tries on people with their knowledge. He gets into a serious argument with his wife and his wife injects him his one of the prepared serum which converts him into an animal. Now Vishal every night coverts into an animal and kills severel peoples one by one. But the tragedy is that Vishal doesn’t remember about the killings after recovering from his animal instincts.

Inspector Verma ( Narendra Nath ) is assigned this case. He starts his investigation and concludes that the murders are being performed by an animal. He tries to locate the animal but fails. It is then a doctor named Sameer ( Navin Nischol ) and his wife Kiran ( Sarika ) enters in the region. Sameer soon reveals about the whole scene running there. But he has no idea about giving any special kind of medical treatment to Dr. Vishal to cure him for this dangerous disease.
