Bollywood movie, Dard Ka Rishta, directed by Sunil Dutt was released in the year 1982. The movie starred Sunil Dutt and Reena Roy in lead roles while Padmini Kolhapure, Smita Patil, Naaz Hussain, Khushboo and Ashok Kumar also played significant characters in the film. The melodious music of the movie was directed by the well known veteran music director Rahul Dev Burman while the songs were beautifully crooned by A Hariharan, Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar etc.

The movie starts with a couple, Ravi Kant Sharma ( Sunil Dutt ) and Asha ( Reena Roy ), who are surgeons by profession and are married to each other. They are residing in New York, Ravi wanst to go back to India but Asha wants to remain in the New York as she is doing research for the cure of leukemia. She wants to find the cure of thsi disease so that no other person will die from their disease as her brother who was suffering from the same diseases. Asha refuse to go back to India before she complete her research. Ravi gets angered with this and as a result of which the couple get divorced.

Ravi then returns to India and joins Tata memorial Hospital as the head of surgery. Ravi brings his daughter too to India anmed Khusboo ( Padmini Kolhapure ). They starts living happily there forgetting about Asha. After twelve years, Khusboo feels sick. When Ravi takes her blood test, he get shocked to revela that Khusboo is suffering from leukemia. What will happen now?
