Daud was an adventurous comedy released on July 13, 1997 under the banner of Varma Corporations Ltd. The movie was produced and directed by Ram Gopal Verma. The main roles were played by Sanjay Dutt, Urmila Matondkar and Paresh Rawal. Other good roles were played by Aashish Vidyarthi and Manoj Bajpai. The music director of the film was A R Rahman while the singers were Asha Bhosle, A R Rahman, Sonu Nigam and Kavita Krishanamurthy.

The movie opens with Nandu ( Sanjay Dutt ) playing a professional thief and him being given an assignment to steal a packet. Nandu steals the packet but finds the packet is of double the cost told to him. So he decides to blackmail the don Pinky ( Paresh Rawal ), the mastermind behind all this and earn more money. Pinky became furious and told his men to catch Nandu, get the packet and kill him.

Police also comes to know about Nandu stealing the packet. Thus, the police and Pinky’s men both were after the thief, Nandu. During all this run Nandu meets Bhavani ( Urmila Matondkar ) and starts liking her. Actually, the packet contained a nuclear bomb and was to harm the people and country. The movie altogether has good comedy. The shooting for the movie was done in New Zealand making it all the more beautiful.
