Bollywood romantic action thriller, Deewanapan, directed by Ashi Trikha was released on November 16, 2001. The movie starred Arjun Rampal and Diya Mirza in lead roles while Vinod Khanna, Om Puri, Smita Jaykar, Rakesh bedi, Avtar Gill, Amita Nangia, Sharat saxena, Vikas sethi, Anoop Soni, Kabir Sadanand and Mazhar also played significant characters in the film. The music of the movie was directed by the well known music director Aadesh Srivastava while the songs were rendered by Shaan, Sunidhi Chauhan, Sukhwinder Singh, Hema sardesai, Richa Sharma, K.K., Anuradha Sharma, Adnan Sami, Falghuni Pathak.

Young and handsome, Suraj Saxena ( Arjun Rampal ), belongs to a middle class family living in a hill station. His family comprises of his parents and a sister, Asha ( Amita Nangia ). A beautiful girl named Kiran Chaudhary ( Diya mirza ) vists the hill station on a holiday trip and meets with Suraj. Soon they both falls in love with each other. Few days later Kiran leaves to Mumbai. Suraj is unable to get Kiran’s beautiful face out of his mind. Suarj’s family relocates to Mumbai after his sister’s marraige. Suraj enter in a new college and makes some new friends. He then manage to find Kiran and they starts their love tale again.

Kiran’s father, Ranvir Chaaudhary ( Vinod Khanna ) is a wealthy and influential businessman. Ranvir is not happy with his daughter relationship with a poor guy. He calls Suraj to his home and insults him. He also warns him for bad consequences if he will not stop meeting with Kiran. Suraj is told to leave the town immediately alongwith his family. But Suraj does not leave town and then starts the bad consequences of that which made him think whether he has done the right thing by coming in the city?
